Amphoe Bang Sai ( Thai : อำเภอ บางไทร , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː bāːŋ sāj ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the southern part of Ayutthaya Province ("Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province"). Ayutthaya Province is located in the central region of Thailand .

There is another district of Bang Sai in the province of Ayutthaya, whose name is Romanized in the same spelling, but the Thai spelling is different ( บางซ้าย ).

Neighboring counties (clockwise from north): the Amphoe Bang Ban , Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Bang Pa-in the province of Ayutthaya, Amphoe Sam Khok in the province of Pathum Thani and the Amphoe Lat Bua Luang and Sena in Ayutthaya.

history

The history of the district goes back to Khwaeng Sena Noi, who was transformed into an amphoe in 1898 . In 1923 it was renamed Ratchakhram to reflect the central tambon . Since the administration was moved to Tambon Bang Sai in 1925, this name was adopted in 1939.

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

• Bang Sai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บางไทร ) consisting of the complete Tambon Bang Sai, Bang Phli and the parts of the Tambon Mai Tra, Ban Ko.
• Ratchakhram (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ราช คราม ) consisting of the complete tambon Ratchakhram, Chang Yai.

In addition, there are nine " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

• Sanam Chai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล สนาม ชัย ) consisting of the complete Tambon Sanam Chai, Ban Paeng.
• Bang Yi Tho (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บาง ยี่ โท ) consisting of the complete Tambon Na Mai, Bang Yi Tho, Khae Tok, Chang Lek, Homok.
• Krachaeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล กระแชง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Krachaeng, Chang Noi.
• Ban Klueng (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล บ้าน กลึง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Khae Ok, Ban Klueng.
• Phai Phra (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ไผ่ พระ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Phai Phra, Kok Kaeo Burapha and parts of Tambon Ban Ko.
• Mai Tra (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ไม้ ตรา ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Mai Tra.
• Ban Ma (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้าน ม้า ) consisting of the complete tambon Ban Ma.
• Pho Taeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล โพ แตง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Pho Taeng, Chiang Rak Noi.
• Khok Chang (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล โคก ช้าง ) consisting of the complete tambon Khok Chang.
