Amphoe Tha Ruea ( Thai : อำเภอ ท่าเรือ , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː tʰâː rɯ̄a ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the northeast of Ayutthaya Province ("Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province"). Ayutthaya Province is located in the central region of Thailand .
etymology
The Thai word Tha Ruea means boat dock .
geography
The neighboring Amphoe are clockwise from the north: Amphoe Don Phut , Amphoe Ban Mo , Amphoe Sao Hai , Amphoe Nong Saeng of Saraburi Province and Amphoe Phachi and Amphoe Nakhon Luang of Ayutthaya Province.
history
The original name of the county was Nakhon Noi. In 1916 it was renamed Tha Ruea to commemorate an important historical event.
When the hunter Bun in Saraburi province the footprint of the Buddha found, King went Songtham with his royal barge on the Pa-Sak River to the spot to pay homage to the impression. He parked his boat here in what is now the district and continued his journey overland. This pilgrimage has since become a royal tradition, as later kings also traveled in this way to Wat Phra Phutthabat to pay homage to the footprint.

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Tha Ruea (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่าเรือ ) consisting of the complete tambon Tha Ruea.
- Tha Luang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า หลวง ) consisting of the parts of the Tambon Champa, Tha Luang.
In addition, there are nine " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)
- Champa (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล จำปา ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Champa.
- Tha Luang (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ท่า หลวง ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Tha Luang.
- Ban Rom (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บ้าน ร่อ ม ) consisting of the complete Tambon Ban Rom.
- Sala Loi (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ศาลาลอย ) consisting of the complete Tambon Sala Loi.
- Wang Daeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วัง แดง ) consisting of the complete tambon Wang Daeng.
- Pho En (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล โพธิ์ เอน ) consisting of the complete Tambon Pho En.
- Pak Tha (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ปาก ท่า ) consisting of the complete Tambon Pak Tha.
