Amphoe Thepha ( Thai : อำเภอ เทพา , Malay : Tiba ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the southeast of the Songkhla Province . The Songkhla Province is located in the southern region of Thailand on the coast to the Gulf of Thailand .

history
Thepa was originally a first-class Mueang , it was subordinate to Mueang Phatthalung. The governor had to regularly send a gold-and-silver tree ( bunga mas ) as a tribute to the governor of Phatthalung. During the reign of King Phra Phutthaloetla ( Rama II ) , the city was referred to Songkhla and raised to the third-class Mueang .
In the Thesapiban administration reforms in 1901, the Mueang was downgraded to a district of Songkhla. The administration building was at that time in Ban Phra Phut ( บ้าน พระพุทธ ), Village 2 of Thepha subdistrict. When the railroad was being built through the district in 1932, the administrative building was moved to Ban Tha Phru ( บ้าน ท่า พรุ ), Village 1 of Thepha Subdistrict , closer to Tha Muang ( ท่าม่วง ) station. This is why the train station was later called “Thepa”.
