The Vetschau office was an office in the state of Brandenburg formed in 1992 , in which eleven municipalities in what was then the district of Calau (today the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz , Brandenburg ) had come together to form an administrative association. The seat of the official administration was in the city of Vetschau / Spreewald . The Vetschau office was dissolved in 2003, and the last smaller municipalities belonging to the office were incorporated into the city of Vetschau by law. At the end of 2002 it had 10192 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The Vetschau office bordered in the north to the offices of Lübbenau / Spreewald and Burg (Spreewald) , in the east to the non-governmental municipality of Kolkwitz , in the south to the Drebkau and Altdöbern offices and in the west to the Calau office .

On July 9, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg gave his consent to the formation of the Vetschau Office. July 21, 1992 was set as the date of establishment of the office. The office was based in the town of Vetschau (later Vetschau / Spreewald) and initially consisted of eleven municipalities in what was then the district of Calau (in the order they were named in the official gazette):

The city of Vetschau was renamed Vetschau / Spreewald on April 1, 1997. As of December 31, 2001, the communities of Göritz, Naundorf, Repten and Stradow were incorporated into the city of Vetschau / Spreewald. On December 31, 2002, the communities of Ogrosen and Suschow were incorporated into the city of Vetschau / Spreewald. The municipalities of Koßwig, ​​Laasow, Missen and Raddusch were incorporated into the city of Vetschau / Spreewald by law on October 26, 2003. The office of Vetschau was dissolved, the city of Vetschau / Spreewald vacant. The municipality of Missen submitted a municipal constitutional complaint to the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg against its integration into the city of Vetschau / Spreewald, which was rejected.
