Office building Nienhaus
The Amtshaus Nienhaus is a late classicist former administrative building in Aschendorf , City of Papenburg .
history
The office building was built from 1832 to 1836 on the site of the former Nienhaus Castle on the Chaussee between Aschendorf and Herbrum , later Bundesstraße 70 . The architect was Josef Niehaus , from 1834 building inspector of the Duchy of Arenberg-Meppen .
The Amtshaus Nienhaus was the seat of the Aschendorf Office in the Duchy of Arenberg-Meppen, which was part of the Landdrostei Osnabrück . After the Kingdom of Hanover was declared the Prussian Province of Hanover in 1866 , the office was opened in the newly founded Aschendorf district in 1885 , but its district office was initially moved to the Altenkamp house and in 1899 to a new building.
description
The two-storey massive brick building in the late classicist style is planned as a representative administration building. The center of the east side (front side) forms an outside staircase that leads directly to the upper floor. There is a portal between two Doric columns , above an architrave , which continues as a frieze under the eaves . A triangular gable forms the end . A vestibule led to the office through the portal .
In contrast to the Ludmillenhof in Sögel , which was previously built by Josef Niehaus , the windows in the basement of the Nienhaus office building are rounded . This element is also found in the buildings of the Hanoverian master builder Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves , with whom Niehaus was probably in contact.
Bricks were used almost exclusively as building material . The corner stones , which give the impression of sandstone blocks , are also made of painted bricks. Sandstone was only used for the pillars of the portal, the base and the window sills.
