Life

Hennig graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in English literature. She was attending San Francisco State University's film school when she was hired as an artist for an Atari game called ElectroCop. Working on the game, she realized that she was more interested in the video game industry than the film industry. She dropped out of film school soon after.

Career

Hennig has been in the video game industry since the late 1980s. Her first work was for the Nintendo Entertainment System , for which she was mainly employed as an artist and animator . She initially worked as a freelance artist for Electrocop, an unreleased Atari 7800 game based on the launch title of Atari Lynx . She then moved to Electronic Arts as an animator and artist, working on an unreleased title, Bard's Tale 4 and Desert Strike . Two years after joining Electronic Arts, Hennig worked as an artist on Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City. She later worked as a director, producer, and writer for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver . She also directed and wrote Soul Reaver 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance.

Hennig left Crystal Dynamics to work as the creative director for Naughty Dog. She wrote for the Jak and Daxter series before working as Game Director for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and as Headwriter and Creative Director for the Uncharted series. While working on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , Hennig led a 150-person team that created the game and acted as a writer. She wrote and directed Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Shortly after starting work on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for PlayStation 4 , Hennig left Naughty Dog.

On April 3, 2014, it entered Visceral Games on to work with Todd Stashwick in the project Project ragtag, a Star Wars - working game. However, the game was dissolved and the studio closed. Hennig announced that she wants to found a new development studio with Skydance Media and Julian Beak .

Role in the game industry

Hennig is cited as an example of a successful woman in a historically male-dominated industry. The British video magazine Edge named her one of the 100 most influential women in the game industry.
