Analamanga ( German Blue Forest ) is one of 22 regions ( Faritra ) of Madagascar in the center of the island. In 2014, around 3.4 million people lived in the region. It is the most densely populated region of Madagascar. The 22 regions of Madagascar were founded in June 2004. On April 4, 2007, Marc Ravalomanana held a referendum on an amendment to the constitution, which established a new administrative structure without provinces from October 2009. The regions thus became the first administrative unit.
geography
Analamanga is located in the central highlands of Madagascar and has an area of 17,448 km² of which about 93% are savanna-like . 5.3% of the area is covered by forests; about 2% of water bodies. The region largely forms the northern part of the former province of Antananarivo and borders in the north on Betsiboka , in the east on Alaotra-Mangoro , in the south on Vakinankaratra and in the west on Bongolava and Itasy . The Ambohitantely nature reserve is located in the southwest of Analamanga. The Lac Andranofotsy located in the center.
climate
The annual average temperature is 19 ° C, the maximum average temperature 24.8 ° C and the minimum average temperature 14.2 ° C. The average annual rainfall is around 1100 mm. The maximum rainfall is 1456 mm in the Manjakandriana district .
Economy and Infrastructure
The main branch of production in Analamanga is agriculture. However, soil in the region consists of Ferralsol , a nutrient-poor soil that poses challenges for agricultural use.
In order to supply Madagascar's capital Antananarivo and the surrounding area with electricity, the Antelomita hydropower plant was built in the southern tip of Analamanga . In addition, the Mantasoa and Tsiazompaniry dams were built to better regulate the inflow . This created two artificial lakes.

The national road 2 runs east to Toamasina . The national road 3 runs from Antananarivo on the eastern border to the north towards Anjozorobe . The national road 4 extends in a northerly direction through the region to Mahajanga . Antananarivo International Airport serves air traffic.
