Andrés Javier Vásquez (born July 16, 1987 in Lima ) is a Peruvian-born Swedish football player . He has both nationalities .

Career

Breakthrough in Sweden, difficult time in Switzerland

Vásquez first played for various clubs in Gothenburg before moving to the youth department of IFK Gothenburg in 1997 . On July 7, 2005 he made his debut for the club against Gefle IF in the Allsvenskan . In his first league season, however, he only came to three appearances as a substitute. However, he is gaining his first international experience in the Royal League and the UEFA Intertoto Cup . In the 2006 season he was able to establish himself in the first division squad and after two more games as a substitute he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 2-2 draw at home Gamla Ullevi against Helsingborgs IF . In total, he played 25 of the 26 season games, commuting between the starting eleven and the substitute bench. In autumn he made his first appearance in the blue and yellow jersey of the Swedish U-21 national team: in the 2-4 defeat on November 14th against the French junior team, he was in the starting line-up and was won by Robert in the 63rd minute of play Åhman-Persson replaced.

In May 2007 Vásquez gained international attention when he scored a remarkable goal in a 4-0 win over Örebro SK . Swedish media described the hit as the "goal of the century". At the end of the year he became Swedish football champion and in December of that year the club announced that he would leave Sweden and join FC Zurich in January 2008 . He signed a contract there until 2011. With the reigning Swiss champions, he commuted between the regular eleven and substitute bench, none of his twelve appearances in the Axpo Super League until the summer break he made for the entire game. In the 1: 3 defeat at Neuchâtel Xamax on March 22 of that year, he scored his first competitive goal in Switzerland in the 70th minute with the honorary goal .

After Vásquez in Switzerland - among other things because of indiscipline - was no longer taken into account by coach Bernard Challandes in the 2008/09 season and was only used in the club's U-21 team, the English press reported one in early June Moved to Stoke City . However, the player said that he was in talks with the club about his future and that he might want to compete in the Champions League with him. In November of that year the club moved him back to the U- together with Almen Abdi after he had three short appearances in the league as a substitute at the beginning of the season and appeared against AC Bellinzona in a 4-1 win as a goal scorer in stoppage time. 21 team and declared without planning him.

In January 2011, Vásquez moved within Switzerland on loan to local rivals Grasshopper Club Zurich , who also agreed a purchase option. Until the end of the loan period in the summer he only made a short assignment as a substitute, the club waived a firm commitment.

Unsuccessful return to Sweden and again to Switzerland

In the summer of 2011, Vásquez returned to Gothenburg. He joined the first division club BK Häcken , with whom he signed a two-year contract in early July. Since the summer transfer period only began on August 1, he was only eligible to play from this date, and played eight league games by the end of the season. The 2012 season was overshadowed by various injuries, so that he could not play a league game for the competition team. Ultimately, coach Peter Gerhardsson waived his services - even in the first half of the 2013 season he remained without a game minute, so that after his contract expired in summer 2013 he was no longer employed by the club and was subsequently without a club.

After a year without a club, Vásquez joined the Swiss club FC Wil , who had finished third in the Challenge League in the previous season. At the beginning of August 2014, he signed a two-year contract with the club from the city of Abbots.
