Athletic career
Club career
André Barylla comes from the junior division of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , in which he has been supported by Thomas Matheja, Lothar Priebe and Dr. Bernd Kirsche was trained. In 1984 he won the GDR championship with the Lok youth team .
In the summer of 1986, the junior national player at 1. FC Lok moved from the district league team to the squad of the first team. On the 8th game day of the 1986/87 season he made his debut for 1. FC Lok in the league in a 3-0 home win against BSG Energie Cottbus , but could not prevail in the long term in the first division team of Hans-Ulrich Thomale .
At the end of 1986, Barylla moved for a year and a half to local rivals BSG Chemie Leipzig , which was represented in the second-class league . The experience he gained there in men's football enabled him to return to the top GDR club 1. FC Lok Leipzig in the summer of 1988. For the Lok-Elf from the trade fair city, the defensive player was not only active in the league in 1988/89 , but also on the international stage . In the UEFA Cup in 1988/89 , he played two of the four games up to the second round of the Leipzig against FC Aarau and SSC Napoli .
In 1989, the then sports student went to BSG Wismut Aue . With the team from the Ore Mountains Barylla rose in the turning season 1989/90 from the league. In the winter of 1990/91 after the reunification of Germany , he moved in the last independent season of East German football within the league season B from the BSG successor club, now known as FC Wismut Aue , to FSV Zwickau . In the of Zwickau he was interrupted by a season at 1. FC Union Berlin until 1999. 1993/94 he succeeded with the FSV the rise under coach Gerd Harmful to the 2. Bundesliga . In this league, the West Saxony could hold for four years, until 1997/98 the relegation to the third class regional league followed. After a year in this division, Barylla ended his career for the time being. In 2000, the defender from SV Schmölln 1913 was reactivated and later played at SV Mosel.
Selection bets
A few days before his debut in the league in autumn 1986, André Barylla and teammates like Matthias Sammer , Rico Steinmann and Axel Kruse had won the continental title with the U-19s of the GDR in the final of the 1986 European Junior Championship by beating Italy 3-1. The GDR trade journal fuwo gave the Leipzig defender, despite his regular place during the tournament in Yugoslavia, not the best marks, describing him "[sometimes] as a disturbance factor in our otherwise closed defense."
In the GDR squad for the Junior World Cup in 1987 in Chile , he did not make it a year later as a second division footballer. In the junior team of the DFV he was used once - in March 1989 against the ČSSR .
Trivia
In the summer of 2017, his son Anthony moved from the disbanded reserve of RB Leipzig to Barylla's former club FSV Zwickau and commented: “My father played the second division in Zwickau for four years. I hope I can build on his performance and first want to make the leap into third division. "
