Andreas Kohn (born March 11, 1964 in Munich ) is a German opera singer (bass) and lecturer.

Life

After his training at the Mozarteum in Salzburg , where he studied with his father Kammersänger Karl-Christian Kohn and graduated with honors in 1987, he began his career in the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera . During this time he was in the final round of the New Voices competition of the Bertelsmann Foundation , a finalist in the Mozart Festival competition for singing in Würzburg and a prize winner at the National Singing Competition in Berlin (scholarship from the Richard Wagner Society Bayreuth ). His first professional contract led the bassist to the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden , where he a. a. Don Basilio ( The Barber of Seville ), Masetto ( Don Giovanni ), Colline ( La Bohème ) and Fafner ( Das Rheingold ) sang. In 1993 Daniel Barenboim engaged him in the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera . Here he took over roles in his field, u. a.
