Andreas Kohn
Andreas Kohn (born March 11, 1964 in Munich ) is a German opera singer (bass) and lecturer.
Life
After his training at the Mozarteum in Salzburg , where he studied with his father Kammersänger Karl-Christian Kohn and graduated with honors in 1987, he began his career in the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera . During this time he was in the final round of the New Voices competition of the Bertelsmann Foundation , a finalist in the Mozart Festival competition for singing in Würzburg and a prize winner at the National Singing Competition in Berlin (scholarship from the Richard Wagner Society Bayreuth ). His first professional contract led the bassist to the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden , where he a. a. Don Basilio ( The Barber of Seville ), Masetto ( Don Giovanni ), Colline ( La Bohème ) and Fafner ( Das Rheingold ) sang. In 1993 Daniel Barenboim engaged him in the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera . Here he took over roles in his field, u. a. Don Fernando ( Fidelio ), Don Basilio ( The Barber of Seville ), King ( Aida ) and Kaspar ( Der Freischütz ).
Guest performances and concert tours led Kohn u. a. to the Salzburg Festival ( Salome , conductor: Christoph von Dohnányi , director: Luc Bondy ; Don Giovanni , part: Masetto, conductor: Daniel Barenboim, director: Patrice Chéreau ), to Cleveland and Israel, to Tokyo and Rome ( Elektra and Parsifal in concert , Conductor: Giuseppe Sinopoli ), Geneva, Barcellona, Venice, Brussels and Athens, the Semperoper Dresden and the Staatsoper Stuttgart . In 2002 Andreas Kohn returned to his hometown Munich, where he has since performed as a guest at the Bavarian State Opera a. a. in Carmen , Die Zauberflöte , Salome , Billy Budd , Moses and Aron , Tosca , Les Troyens , Nabucco , Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Here he worked a. a. with Kent Nagano and Zubin Mehta . In oratorios and concerts he sang a. a. with Enoch zu Guttenberg , and Peter Schreier together. Andreas Kohn also took master classes in Lied with Paul Schilhafsky in Salzburg and Hans Hotter in Munich. Since 2004 Andreas Kohn has been teaching singing at the August Everding Theater Academy , and since 2014 at the Munich University of Music and Theater .
