Andreas Pruys
Andreas Pruys (born in Kleve ) is a German singer with a bass voice .
Life
Andreas Pruys studied singing and church music at the Folkwang University in Essen . For several years he worked as a church musician and head of the music school in Emmerich. Since 2001 he has been a member of the NDR choir .
Pruys worked as a soloist in oratorio concerts, above all he sang the Christ words in the passions of Johann Sebastian Bach. In 2007 he undertook a concert tour with the Flensburger Bach Choir and sang Bach's B minor Mass in Leipzig's St. Thomas Church , the Dresdner Cross Church and the Franciscan church in Krakow . In 2008 he sang the words of Christ in Bach's St. John Passion in the Philharmonie Luxembourg , with Christoph Prégardien as evangelist, Katharine Fuge , Robin Blaze , Peter Kooij , the Arsys Bourgogne choir and the Concerto Köln , conducted by Pierre Cao . He performed at deSingel kunstcampus , Antwerp , in a concert with the Sinfonia espansiva by Carl Nielsen and Chorale by Magnus Lindberg , conducted by Eivand Aadland. In 2008 he sang Beethoven's C major Mass and Bruckner's Te Deum with the NDR Symphony Orchestra for the rededication of St. Mary's Cathedral in Hamburg . In 2009 he sang the words of Christ in Bach's St. Matthew Passion in St. Martin, Idstein , with Ulrich Cordes as evangelist and Klaus Mertens in the other bass parts. In 2009 he sang Haydn's The Creation with Elisabeth Scholl , Daniel Sans and the Neue Rheingauer Kantorei both in the Rheingau Cathedral in Geisenheim and the basilica of Johannisberg Castle . On Palm Sunday 2010 he sang the Christ words of the St. John Passion in Trier Cathedral . He sang the bass solo in Verdi's Messa da Requiem in St. Martin, Idstein .
In 1996 Andreas Pruys recorded Johann Rosenmüller's Vespro della beata Vergine as a member of the Canticum Ensemble, with Cantus Cölln and Concerto Palatino , directed by Konrad Junghänel . In 2010 Andreas Pruys took part in the Robert Schumann project : Collection of pieces of music, old and new , which was initiated by Radio Bremen and led to a series of programs and CDs. Artists such as Veronika Winter and Jan Kobow performed the 70 compositions that Schumann added to the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik between 1838 and 1841.
