Career

Cristea began his career at FCM Bacau , where he was brought to the first team in 2001. In the first season , the club was sixth in the league. After 12th place in the 2002/03 season , 13th place jumped out in the following year , which again meant relegation.

In 2004 he moved to the Bucharest top club Steaua . The championship title was already won in the first season with Cristea. The striker was also able to play at European level for the first time. He made his debut on September 16, 2004 against CSKA Sofia from Bulgaria in the first round match of the UEFA Cup . He was substituted on for Daniel Oprița at halftime and the game was won 2-1. Steaua made it to the round of 16 this UEFA Cup season, where it was the last stop against Villarreal . In the 2005/06 season , the championship title could be defended.

As a result, he turned his back on Steaua and moved to league rivals FC Timișoara . There Cristea was able to achieve seventh place with the club in the final ranking of the championship . Furthermore, he reached the cup final , where he was defeated by Rapid Bucharest 2-0. Cristea came on for Gueye Mansour in the 55th minute . After another six months in Timișoara, the striker went on loan to Politehnica Iași , who were in eleventh place at the end of the season .

In January 2011 he moved to Germany for the second division club Karlsruher SC . There he contributed in the second half of the season with six goals in eleven matches to keep Baden's league. During the summer break, Cristea had to undergo knee surgery, which meant that he was not available for the KSC for a long time. The injury dragged on for most of the 2011/12 season.
