Angelmaker ( spelling AngelMaker ) is a Canadian deathcore band from Vancouver, founded in 2011 .

history

Angelmaker was founded in 2011 in the Canadian city of Vancouver and, after several line-up changes, consists of the singers Mike Greenwood and Casey Tyson-Pearce, the two guitarists Colton Bennett and Mike Perrin - who has also played with Threat Signal since 2015 -, bassist Cole Rideout, as well as the drummer Jesse Price.

In September 2012, the band released their debut EP Decay , which has six tracks and a collaboration with Darian Mazloomi of Argent Strand , on their own. A triple split EP with the bands Lament and Isolations was released almost half a year later . At the beginning of 2015 the band released their debut album Dissentients , which was largely financed out of their own pocket. A crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform brought in almost 30 percent of the total costs. In October 2016 another split EP was released with Unholy Alliance , this time with the deathcore band A Night in Texas .

Between March 3 and April 8, 2017, Angelmaker played her first concert tour as a headliner through the United States , with the tour kicking off in Vancouver . This tour was accompanied by falsifier . After the group won a fan contest, the group was allowed to open the entire Summer Slaughter Tour in the United States and Canada that summer, headed by The Black Dahlia Murder and headed by Betraying the Martyrs , Lorna Shore , Dying Fetus , Oceano , Slaughter to Prevail , The Faceless and Rings of Saturn . After the Summer Slaughter Tour, the group plans to finish work on their second album and be able to move into the studio at the end of the year to start recording. The plan is to release the second album in early 2018. Another big concert tour is also planned. In October and November the group completed a North American tour as the opening act for Psycroptic , which was also accompanied by Decrepit Birth and Within Destruction . The third album named after the band will be released on May 31, 2019.

Angelmaker play pure and simple Deathcore , which doesn't work with elements of Djent or influences of Progressive Metal and thus doesn't remind of Necrophagist . Instead, the musicians resort to a musical mixture of death metal and hardcore punk . Rather untypical for Deathcore is the use of gangshouts , which is common in Hardcore. The musicians also work with tremolo - picking while playing the guitar, suffocation- like blastbeats and fast breakdowns . Sometimes the singing reminds me of metalcore . The music is comparable with King Conquer , Carnifex , Float Face Down as well as Aversions Crown , Oceano , I Declare War and Infant Annihilator .

Notoriety

Despite the fact that the group is active in the underground and has only been touring since 2016, the band has a steadily growing fan base. The split EP Unholy Alliance with the Australian band A Night in Texas also ensured an increase in awareness. Through a fan voting, which was announced by the organizer of the Summer Slaughter Tour, which has been held annually since 2007, the band was able to prevail against competitors such as Jungle Rot and My Enemies & I and thus play the entire concert tour as the opening act .
