Anika Ziercke (born Schafferus ; born January 2, 1974 in Boeblingen ) is a former German handball player .

Career

Anika Ziercke, who played on the left wing position and whose ancestors came from near Danzig , grew up in Hildrizhausen in Baden-Württemberg . She began playing handball in 1980 at BC Waldhaus Hildrizhausen (part of HSG Schönbuch since 2000). There she played up to the D youth. From 1986 she went through the other youth teams at SV Böblingen before moving to the then Bundesliga club VfL Sindelfingen in 1992 at the age of 18 . After his relegation from the Bundesliga and retreat to the regional league , she joined the Hessian Bundesliga club TV Mainzlar in 1994 . In 1996 she finally moved to TuS Eintracht Minden . There she was one of the victims of the retreat of the four-time German champion from professional handball in 2003.

She has been married to the former national handball player Aaron Ziercke since 2001 , who played for SG Flensburg-Handewitt , THW Kiel and TSV GWD Minden , among others . Both are parents of two children.

After a break due to her pregnancy, she celebrated her comeback in February 2005 at the regional division Eintracht Oberlübbe . At the end of the season - the fourth place in the table was reached - the club withdrew the team from the Regionalliga West. The right-hander then joined HSG Stemmer / Friedewalde , a syndicate that plays its home games in the north of Minden . With the HSG, where she is also used on the center backcourt and in the left backcourt, she was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga North in 2006 and 2008 . In spring 2011, she announced her retirement as an active player. In autumn 2011, however, she was persuaded to make a comeback with the second division club SC Greven 09 , trained by Franziska Heinz . A season later she helped out at HSV Minden-Nord. From December 2013 until the end of the 2013/14 season she played for the TuS Eintracht Oberlübbe club.

National team

Anika Ziercke played her first international game under her maiden name Schafferus on October 29, 1996 in a 27:10 win over China in Freudenstadt .
