Anita Pallenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anita Pallenberg (born April 6, 1942 in Rome ; † June 13, 2017 in Chichester , England ) was a German actress , model and fashion designer . She became known as a groupie in the 1960s, especially around the rock band The Rolling Stones .

Life

Anita Pallenberg was the daughter of the Italian travel agent Arnaldo Pallenberg, who is also often described as a “frustrated singer” and “surrealist painter”, and the German Elfriede Paula Wiederhold, secretary at the German embassy in Rome. Anita Pallenberg was sent to a German boarding school, where she was soon expelled from school. Afterwards she tried to become an art restorer, which she soon gave up in order to hitchhike to major European cities. Eventually she took a ship to New York , where she was placed with a modeling agency . With the Living Theater she appeared there in Paradise Now and also gave a guest appearance in Andy Warhol's Factory . Rumors that she could be the niece of actor Max Pallenberg, who fled the Nazis to Austria in 1933 and who died in a plane crash in 1934 , are most likely incorrect.

In 1965 the modeling agency sent her to Munich for an assignment , where the Rolling Stones were just making a guest appearance. At the concert she met the musician and Stones co-founder Brian Jones backstage . Pallenberg traveled with the band to their upcoming concert in Berlin and followed Jones to London, where she was in a relationship with him. This ended after Jones behaved violently towards her during a stay in Morocco.

As a result, Pallenberg was in a relationship with the Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards . There are three children from the relationship with Keith Richards: Marlon Richards (born August 10, 1969), Dandelion Angela Richards (born April 17, 1972) and Tara Jo Jo Gunne Richards (born March 26, 1976 † June 6, 1976), who died of sudden infant death .

A scandal broke out in 1979 when Scott Cantrell, a 17-year-old friend, was found dead in her bed in a New York apartment belonging to Keith Richards. The cause of death was suicide. Anita Pallenberg was in the apartment at the time of death, but was acquitted of any complicity. There are reports that Cantrell was killed playing Russian roulette .

Pallenberg's clothing label is called Burn .
