Anja Mayer

Anja Mayer (born December 16, 1979 in Feuchtwangen ) is a German politician . From June 2014 to June 2018 she was a member of the federal board of Die Linke , since March 2018 she has been state chairman in Brandenburg alongside Katharina Slanina .

Life

Anja Mayer grew up in a working-class family in Rothenburg ob der Tauber . After training as a doctor's assistant, she worked in the research department of a cardiovascular clinic and moved to Munich for this. On her second educational path , she graduated from high school and actually wanted to study medicine. In the conflict over the Hartz IV laws, however, she became politicized, joined the WASG in 2005 , began to organize election campaigns there and began studying sociology , social psychology and philosophy . In 2011 she became an employee of the federal executive committee of the left that emerged from the merger of WASG and PDS , and later of a member of the Bundestag . After marrying and having a child, she finished her studies shortly before completing her thesis.

In 2014 she was elected to the federal executive committee of the Left. At the end of 2015 she moved to Potsdam and was responsible for organizational matters and public relations in the regional branch of her party there . When Andrea Johlige, the former Brandenburg state manager, was not re-elected in the spring of 2016 , Anja Mayer initially took over this function on a provisional basis and was also elected to the office in 2017. Since 2016 she has also been a member of the federal executive board. On March 17, 2018, she was elected together with Diana Golze as Brandenburg state chairman of the Left and therefore did not stand for election for the party executive at the federal party conference in June 2018.

Anja Mayer is u. a. Member of ver.di , the Kurt Eisner Association ( Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Bavaria) and the Federation for Environment and Nature Conservation Germany .
