Anna is a small town in Union County in the south of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2000 Anna had 5,136 inhabitants.

Anna is 12 miles east of the Mississippi River , which forms the border with Missouri .
The Illinois State Route 146 runs through Anna and crosses US Highway 51 on the eastern edge of the city . A few kilometers further east runs Interstate 57 , which runs from Chicago in a north-south direction through all of Illinois and joins Interstate 55 a little after Cairo at the Ohio estuary in the neighboring state of Missouri .
St. Louis is 191 km in a north-northeast direction, Illinois' capital Springfield 294 km in the north, Kentucky's largest city Louisville in an east-northeast direction 368 km, Tennessee's capital Nashville 300 km in the southeast, Memphis 315 km in the southwest and Missouri's capital Jefferson City 376 km to the northwest.
