Anna Wassiljewna Schchukina ( Russian Анна Васильевна Щукина ; born November 5, 1987 in Balakirewo , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has played for Agidel Ufa in the Shenskaya Hockey League since 2015 .

Career

Anna Shchukina was born in the village of Balakirevo in Vladimir Oblast . At the age of seven she started ice hockey with Rubin Balakirewo and played in his male youth teams. In 2001 she won the regional junior tournament for the Golden Puck with Rubin . At the age of 15 she moved to Moscow and from then on attended the SKIF Moscow sports school under the direction of Alexandra Wirjasowa. From 2004 she played for SKIF in the highest women's league in Russia. In 2006 the club moved from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod. With SKIF she won the Russian championship in 2008 and 2010 and the European Women Champions Cup in 2009 . In parallel to her sporting activities, she studied at the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University.

In 2011 she returned to Moscow and played for Tornado Moskowskaya Oblast for the following four seasons . With Tornado she won three more championship titles in 2012, 2013 and 2015 and the European Women Champions Cup in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In the 2015/16 season she played for the women's team at HK Dynamo Saint Petersburg in the Schenskaya Hockey League , which was founded in 2015 , before being signed by Agidel Ufa for two years in July 2016 .

International

In 2007, Anna Shchukina made her debut for the Russian national team . During the 2009/10 season she was nominated for the roster for the Vancouver Olympics, but suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in a friendly shortly before the start of the tournament. In 2013 she won the bronze medal with the national team at the World Championships in Ottawa and in the same year the silver medal at the Winter Universiade 2013 in Trento. In February 2014 she played for the national team at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, played all six games and scored two goals.

She won the gold medal at the 2015 Winter Universiade in Granada . A year later, she led the national team as captain and again won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Malmö .
