Antje Krause (born May 1, 1972 ) is a German long-distance and ultra runner .

Life

Antje Krause grew up in the Ore Mountains . She studied history (major) as well as Scandinavian studies and pre- and early history (minor subjects) in Marburg and has lived in the city on the Lahn ever since . After a year abroad, she also studied education and social pedagogy . In the meantime, she wrote for the magazine Laufreport.de .

After several marathons , Krause completed her first ultra marathon at the Marburger Lahntallauf in 2005 and became German runner-up in a time of 4:03:11 h . Since 2010 she has been a member of the German national team in the 100 km run and 24 hour run , but she continues to run medium and long distances .

Antje Krause holds several course records in international ultramarathons .

Krause broke four German records at the 24h Barcelona 2016 track run. The total of 235.228 km run means second place on the all-time German best list in the 24-hour run and fifth on the world's best list of the year. The German record overall on the track, previously at 225.103 km, and thus also the best in age class, as well as the German age class record she held in the 12-hour run on the track, which she was able to improve by four kilometers to 125.042 km.

In 2017, Krause won the senior world championship (W45) in the 24-hour race at the World Championships in Belfast and won the bronze medal in the team classification with the German team. Her 237.841 km meant seventh place in the individual ranking and personal best. In Gotha she won the German championships in the 24-hour race for women with 219.171 km, the 5th title in a row.
