Anton Kaufmann (born August 21, 1885 in Buchen , † December 30, 1948 in Karlsruhe ; Catholic) was an administrative actuary in the Baden state service since 1903 .

Anton Kaufmann was the son of the farmer Anton Josef Kaufmann (born February 7, 1839 in Buchen; † April 14, 1897 ibid) and Maria Anna nee Kreukler (born September 1, 1841 in Buchen; † May 23, 1898 ibid). On May 1, 1915, he married Josephine Theresie nee Flum (born November 17, 1888), daughter of Anton Flum, farmer and warehouse manager in Buchen. There were two children from this marriage: Anneliese (* May 16, 1917) and Rolf Anton (* December 5, 1922).

education and profession

After attending the Buchen elementary school from 1891 to 1896, Kaufmann attended the higher middle school in Buchen up to the Obertertia . From August 16, 1901, he began training as an actuary at the Buchen District Office . Until the administrative actuary exam in November 1903, he went through the following stations during his training: Buchen District Court , Lörrach District Office and Waldshut District Office . He then worked as an administrative actuary at the district offices of Lahr , Ettenheim , Buchen and Tauberbischofsheim until 1913 . Between 1913 and 1920 he worked as a temporary worker at the Heidelberg District Office , the Säckingen District Office and the Buchen District Office. During this time, he was promoted to administrative secretary in 1919 and to administrative senior secretary in 1920. On October 1, 1927, he was promoted to administrative inspector and from 1930 head of the welfare department at the Buchen District Office. In 1934 he moved to the Baden-Baden Police Department . On January 1, 1938, he went to the district of Karlsruhe as chief administrative inspector, and in 1942 he was promoted to chief government inspector.

From May 8 to June 21, 1945 and from September 9 to October 7, 1945 he was appointed provisional district administrator at the Karlsruhe district office by the French military government . On November 15, 1945, he was dismissed from service for membership in the NSDAP . On November 22, 1946, he was denazified as a fellow traveler by judgment of the Spruchkammer . On March 21, 1947, he was reinstated at the Karlsruhe District Office as a clerk in the trade and commerce department.

In addition to his job, Anton Kaufmann was active as a representative of the civil service in the municipal council in Buchen from 1919 to 1933 and as chairman of the Reich Banner Black-Red-Gold in Buchen from 1924 to 1931 . He also sat on the board of directors of Sparkasse Buchen and was chairman of the supervisory board of Konsumverein Buchen GmbH.

Political activity

from 1920 to 1932 he was a member of the German State Party and in 1921 a substitute for the German Democratic Party in constituency VII (Heidelberg- Mosbach ) in the state elections . On May 1, 1937, Kaufmann joined the NSDAP .
