Antonina Vasilyevna Poloshi

Antonina Vasilyevna Polo ski , born Antonina Vasilyevna Teterskaja , ( Russian Антонина Васильевна Положий , maiden name Russian Антонина Васильевна Тетерская ; born May 12 . Jul / 25. May  1917 greg. In Tomsk ; † 20th November 2003 ibid) was a Soviet botanist and university lecturer .

Life

Antonina Vasilyevna's parents worked in the railway administration in Tomsk. The father came from a Belarusian farming family, while the mother came from Nizhny Novgorod . After attending school, Antonina Vasilyevna studied at the biology and soil science faculty of Tomsk University (TGU). She completed her studies in 1939 with a specialization in the systematics of lower plants , in particular algae and mosses . Then she started working as a laboratory assistant at the TGU. She married Sergei Wassiljewitsch Poloschi (1912–1988), who was a lecturer at the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute and then took part in the German-Soviet War .

In 1942 Poloschi became an assistant at the chair for morphology and systematics of lower plants at the TGU. In 1944 she completed her apprenticeship . In 1947 she became a lecturer , doctor of biological sciences, in 1961 head of the chair for botany at the TGU and in 1996 professor of this chair, which she held until her death. From 1968 to 1970 she headed the Laboratory for Flora and Plant Resources of the Research Institute for Biology and Biophysics at the TGU. Then she directed until 2002, Krylov - Herbarium of the TGU. In addition to the systematics of plants, the geography of vegetation was her research focus. She was the author of more than 200 scientific papers.

Poloshi was a long member of the Botany Expert Council of the Supreme Certification Commission of the USSR for the award of academic degrees . From 1969 to 1998 she was chairman of the Tomsk department of the All Union Society and then the Russian Society for Botany. 1987–1990 she was a member of the Botany Section of the Main Council for Biology at the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR .

Poloschi had two children, the physicist Irina (* 1941) and the psychiatrist Boris (* 1948). On the initiative of Boris Poloschi, the annual A. W. Poloschi Prize of the TGU was established in 2006 for the best scientific work of young scientists in the field of botany.
