distribution

The genus Argyranthemum was set up in 1844 by Philip Barker Webb in Carl Heinrich Schultz : Histoire Naturelle des Îles Canaries , 3, 2.2, pages 245, 258-259.

The Argyranthemum species are native to the Canary Islands and Madeira . Few species are neophytes in many coastal areas worldwide .

Argyranthemum species:

use

They grow in light, well-drained soils, preferably in full sun. Many species and varieties are "quite sensitive to frost". In cool areas, the varieties bloom from spring to autumn, in warm areas in winter and spring. The varieties of some species are grown as cut flowers and / or potted plants, particularly Argyranthemum frutescens and Argyranthemum maderense . They are used as bedding and balcony plants.
