Arthe Guimond

Arthé Guimond (born May 22, 1931 in Rimouski , Québec , Canada , † February 6, 2013 in St. Albert ) was Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan .

Life

Arthé Guimond, son of a family with 11 children, was ordained a priest on June 23, 1957 . He studied in Montreal and Rome . He was a professor at the Collège universitaire de Hearst in Ontario ; the San Francisco Seminary , Newman Theological College in Edmonton , the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, and the Saint Boniface Seminary in Manitoba . He was theological advisor to the Canadian Bishops' Conference for 12 years.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan on June 9, 2000 . He was ordained bishop by the apostolic nuncio in Canada , Paolo Romeo , on August 15 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Henri Légaré OMI , Archbishop Emeritus of Grouard-McLennan, and Joseph Neil MacNeil , Archbishop Emeritus of Edmonton .

On November 30, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
