Arthur Biyarslanov ( Russian Артур Биярсланов / Artur Bijarslanow * 22. April 1995 in Makhachkala , Dagestan , Russia ) is a Canadian boxer in the Light Welterweight Chechen descent.

Career

The 1.74 m southpaw was born in the Russian Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, came to Azerbaijan at the age of four and to Canada in 2005, where he started boxing at the age of 12. Nationally, he was Canadian junior lightweight champion in 2011, Canadian youth light welterweight champion in 2012 and Canadian light welterweight champion in 2014 and 2017.

He won bronze at the German Brandenburg Cup in 2012 after being eliminated in the semifinals against Eimantas Stanionis . At the World Youth Championships in Yerevan in 2012 , he came against the starters from the USA and Georgia in the round of 16, where he was knocked out again against Eimantas Stanionis with 11:12.

In 2014 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , where he was eliminated by Manoj Kumar 2-1 in the round of 16. When Jose 'Cheo' Aponte Tournament 2015 in Caguas , he won bronze. After victories against the boxers from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, he was only defeated in the semifinals against Danielito Zorrilla with 1: 2.

In July 2015, he won the Pan American Games in Toronto . He beat Lucas Gimenez from Argentina, Luis Arcón from Venezuela and Yasniel Toledo from Cuba. In August 2015 he got out with the bronze medal without a fight in the semi-finals of the Pan American Championships in Vargas . He had previously defeated the Brazilian Joedison Teixeira and the American Tyrek Irby.

In October 2015 he started at the World Championships in Doha . There he was eliminated in the first fight against Collazo Sotomayor . After his victory at the national Olympic qualification tournament in Montreal in December 2015, he also won the Olympic qualification of the American continent in Buenos Aires in March 2016 . He beat Danielito Zorrilla , Carlos Tovar and Luis Arcon. Biyarslanov qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . At the Olympics he won the preliminary round against Obada Alkasbeh from Jordan (3-0), but was eliminated in the round of 16 against the German Artem Harutiunian (0-2).

At the Pan American Championships in 2017 , he got out of the semi-finals without a fight due to an ear injury and won a bronze medal. He qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg , where he defeated Evaldas Petrauskas in the preliminary round and was eliminated from Elvis Rodriguez in the round of 16.
