Artur Guilherme Moraes Gusmão or simply Artur (born January 25, 1981 in Leme , State of São Paulo ) is a Brazilian soccer player who has been a goalkeeper for the Brazilian club Chapecoense since 2017 .
Career
The 1.92 m tall Artur Moraes began his footballing career 2001-2002 as an A-youth at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte and then moved up to the seniors. He stayed with the club until 2007, but was loaned to Coritiba FC for the last two years . With Cruzeiro he achieved the double in 2003: Brazilian championship and Brazilian Cup , in the same year as well as in 2004 and 2006 the national championship in Minas Gerais .
After the end of his contract with Cruzeiro, he signed on January 4, 2008 with the Italian club AC Siena , but was loaned to AC Cesena on January 30 . On June 25 of the same year, Artur was transferred from Siena to AS Roma together with his teammate Simone Loria , in exchange with Roma goalkeeper Gianluca Curci and midfielder Ahmed Barusso . Daniele Galloppa , owned by both clubs Roma & Siena, has also moved to Tuscany. Artur made his first appearance for Roma in a friendly (1: 3) against Steaua Bucharest . After an injury to Doniéber Alexander Marangon , he was Roma’s first choice in April 2009, ahead of Júlio Sérgio Bertagnoli and Pietro Pipolo . In the 2009/2010 season, however, the coach's favor fell behind Júlio Sérgio, Bogdan Lobonț and Doni to fourth.
In the summer of 2010, he therefore moved to Sporting Braga in Minho , Portugal , who had just lost their goalkeepers Eduardo dos Reis Carvalho and Paweł Kieszek . He replaced Mário Felgueiras when new signing Quim was injured in the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round . Then he was second in the ranking behind Felipe Ventura dos Santos in front of Marcos Barbosa Oliveira . When Felipe returned to Brazil in December, he became the first choice. The move into the final of the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League against FC Porto after a semi-final victory against Benfica on 18 May 2011 the club to which he transferred after the season, is his biggest success in Europe.
In the summer of 2015 he moved to the Turkish Süper Lig for newly promoted Osmanlıspor FK .
