The Asdorf west of the Asdorfer Weiher

The Asdorf (also: Asdorfer Bach ), called Weibe in the upper reaches , is an almost 21 km long right tributary of the Sieg in Siegerland in the Freudenberg district ( Siegen-Wittgenstein district , North Rhine-Westphalia ), running mainly from north to south. and Niederfischbach and Kirchen (Sieg) (both districts of Altenkirchen , Rhineland-Palatinate ).

geography

Natural spatial importance

The Asdorf is the westernmost and thus the last right-hand tributary of the Sieg in the natural Siegerland , which is replaced to the west by the Mittelieg-Bergland . Its upper course lies in the natural area of Freudenberger Bergland , the valley of its lower course is counted as part of the gable forest, whereby the latter ridge in the narrower sense is bounded by the Asdorf, its left tributary Fischbach and its tributary Heisberg from west to north.

course

Upper course

The woman rises on the southern foot of the 457 m high spoons mountain on the border of the winning country to the north subsequent upper Bigge Plateau . The stream flows through the northern Freudenberg district of Büschergrund , where the Wending flows into it from the left after 2.8 km from the 22.7 hectare nature reserve Wending- and Peimbachtal , which flowed through the Büscher Weiher only 200 m previously .

After the Gambach s, which previously flowed through the Gambacher Weiher, flows in from the right, the woman passes the core town of Freudenberg .

Middle course

South of the city and directly on the border with Niederfischbach , the Plittersche flows from the right directly below its Asdorfer Weiher , which is how the Asdorfer Bach gets its real name after about 7.4 km.

From now on, the Asdorf flows for about two kilometers directly along the local and state border, passing through Oberasdorf on the right-hand side and thus in the Rhineland-Palatinate region until the Fischbach flows into it from the left and thus east . The stream now flanks the gable forest in a counter-clockwise direction up to its mouth .

The river, which now runs entirely in Rhineland-Palatinate, passes Niederfischbach, where the Otterbach flows in from the center of the village from the left, i.e. from the gable forest , a little below the Fillbach . In the Fischbacherhütte district, the Hüttenseifen flows from the right into the seamlessly adjoining Eicherhof, from the left the Waschbach . The Asdorf has already turned its direction south here.

Lower course

The lower course of the Asdorf is included in the natural area of the gable forest. Soon after Eicherhof, the Löcherbach flows from the right , the mouth of which is called the Winnersbach on maps . The district of Kirchens is reached and finally the district of Wehbach . From the left, the Wehbach and Seifen flow into the Asdorf.

In the core city area of Kirchens, the Asdorf finally reaches the Niederschelden-Betzdorfer Siegtal , where it later flows into the Sieg .

Tributaries

The following streams in the Asdorf river system are worth mentioning (in brackets for each inflow side, length and catchment area):

  • (l) Wending (2.8 km, 2.6 km²) - just below its Büscher Weiher , nature reserve Wending- and Peimbachtal
  • (r) Gambach (3.4 km, 2.6 km²) - just below its Gambacher Weiher
  • (r) Plittersche (2.9 km, 6.1 km²) - immediately below its Asdorfer Weiher with the NSG of the same name; over Mausbach 5.2 km long
    • (r) Mausbach (4.2 km, 4.1 km²)
  • (l) Fischbach , in the upper reaches of Heusling (6.6 km, 20.4 km²)
    • (l) Heisberg (2.4 km, 2.6 km²)
    • (l) Uebach with NSG Uebachtal (3.4 km, 5.9 km²)
  • (r) Löcherbach (8.1 km, 15.2 km²)
    • (r) Winnersbach (3.6 km, 4.7 km²) - is also shown as the main river on maps

Fischbach

The Fischbach rises as Heusling in the Freudenberg district of Bottenberg and initially flows through the districts of Ober- and Niederheuslingen in a north-south direction . In the district of Oberfischbach , the Heisberg stream, which comes from the district of Heisberg and which gives the place its name, flows to it from the right and the Fischbach receives its final name, with its direction of flow changing to the southwest and finally west. In the last district of Niederndorf through which the river flows , the Uebach, coming from the gable forest, flows from the left . The mouth of the stream is ultimately on the municipal boundary between Freudenberg and Niederfischbach and thus at the same time on the state border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate .

The lower reaches of Asdorf and Fischbach, extended by the Heisberg, form the west and north-west borders of the gable forest.

traffic

In North Rhine-Westphalia, Asdorf is accompanied by state road 512 , which merges into state road 280 in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The passenger and freight traffic from the Asdorftalbahn between Freudenberg and churches to the victory was set in 1983 and 1994 respectively.
