Astra 1E is a decommissioned television satellite of the operator SES Astra based in Betzdorf in Luxembourg . It was used for the transmission of television programs in Europe.

The satellite was launched in 1995 from the Center Spatial Guyanais in French Guiana to the orbit position 19.2 ° East. In October 2007 it was moved to the position 23.5 ° East and replaced the Astra 1D satellite there . From November 2012 it was at the position 31.4 ° East.

The satellite could be received in Europe and the Middle East . The transmission took place in the Ku band .
