The satellite's 72 transponders are used by three satellite operators as follows:

  1. under the name Astra 4A from SES Astra - 33 transponders
  2. under the name AMC 12 from SES Americom - 21 transponders
  3. under the name Star One C-12 from Star One - 18 transponders

AMC-12 was launched into space in 2005 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan . The satellite has several Skyplex units.
