Astra 2C was in service at the orbital position 19.2 ° East until August 2007. He made urgently needed additional transponder capacity available, especially for Great Britain. After that it was shifted again to replace the Astra 5A to 31.5 °.

SES Global made another positioning in May 2011 and moved Astra 2C back to the orbital position 19.2 ° East, where it took over parts of the transponders from Astra 1H (from then on as a backup satellite) and Astra 1M in June 2012 .
