August Wilhelm Weber (born January 31, 1829 in Darmstadt ; † October 11, 1900 there ) was a German politician and finance minister of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

August Weber was initially Protestant, but then converted to Catholicism. He married Antonia Emmerling (1833–1930), the daughter of member of the state parliament Georg Ludwig August Emmerling (1797–1867) and his wife Luise nee Siebert. His son August Karl Weber (1859-1940) was also a high official in the Grand Duchy of Hesse.

Life

August Wilhelm Weber studied law and became a city judge. During his studies in 1846 he became a member of the Allemannia Gießen fraternity . In 1875 he joined the Grand Ducal Interior and Justice Ministry as a ministerial advisor . In 1884 Grand Duke Ludwig III appointed him . as head of the Ministry of Finance (initially with the title of President of the Ministry of Finance and from 1890 with that of Finance Minister). In 1898 he resigned as minister and went into retirement.
