Ludwig Friedrich Carl Schenck zu Schweinsberg (also Karl ) (born November 23, 1805 in Wäldershausen ; † May 4, 1881 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian squire, politician and finance minister of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Ludwig Friedrich Carl Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg comes from the Wäldershausen line of the Schenck zu Schweinsberg family . These were lords in Wäldersbach and Kestrich since the 17th century . Ludwig Friedrich Carl Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg acquired other properties in Hönscheid . Ever since his grandfather Ludwig Friedrich Rudolf Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg (1748–1782) married Christiane von Zwierlein, the daughter of Johann Jakob von Zwierlein , it was a family tradition to marry a daughter of the Zwierlein family . So his father married Ludwig Friedrich Johann Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg (* October 22, 1777; † October 18, 1832) Eleonore Freiin von Zwierlein and Ludwig Friedrich Carl himself Louise Freiin von Zwierlein. From the marriage the heir Karl Ludwig Hans Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg (born November 2, 1835 - January 16, 1910) emerged, who became the Grand Duke of Hesse's Chamberlain and head of the Kaufunger Stiftsfonds .

Ludwig Friedrich Carl Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg embarked on an administrative career in the Grand Duchy of Hesse and was Ministerialrat in the Hessian Ministry of Finance from 1841. In 1848 he was appointed head of the Hessian Ministry of Finance . He remained finance minister until 1874 (1848-1852 with the title of director, from 1852 to 1858 a president of the finance ministry and then a finance minister).
