Ausbach is a district of the municipality of Hohenroda in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse . The place is in the Landecker Amt in the Rhön .

history

Ausbach was first mentioned in a document in 1330. From 1401 the place belonged to the Friedewald office, from 1736 to the Landeck office . The Evangelical Church in Ausbach was built between 1730 and 1732. A fortified church must have stood at this location beforehand . The church is characterized by its special ceiling painting (sky vault) and an old altar.

On February 1, 1972 Ausbach was incorporated into the Hohenroda community that had been newly formed a year earlier.

In 1995 the Kuppenrhöner winery was put into operation. The apple variety Ausbacher Roter is processed there.

There is a community meeting place in Hofreite Hahn and a village museum .

The Solztal cycle path , which is part of the Hessen railway cycle path , runs through the village . This leads from Hanau on former railway lines for about 250 km through the Vogelsberg and the Rhön and ends in Bad Hersfeld .
