Before this house of God was built, another church had already stood in the same place. There is an old village linden tree next to the building .
On September 1, 1968, the previously independent municipality of Glaam was incorporated.
On February 1, 1971, Ransbach and Mansbach, located in the district of Hünfeld , were merged to form the new community of Hohenroda.
coat of arms
On December 23, 1970, the municipality of Ransbach in what was then the district of Hersfeld was awarded a coat of arms.
Blazon : "In red on a silver-bricked base, a silver cross, covered with two diagonally crossed, overturned golden shepherd's staffs."
The coat of arms of Ransbach is based on the legend of the Schäferstein in the large forest area of the Stöckig . The stone is considered to be the remains of an atonement cross that was probably set up in the past. An old legend tells of two shepherds who got into an argument over a piece of bread on the hats of the village Moppers, who had gone out and killed each other to death. Atonement crosses were, according to Dr. Sippel, erected in medieval times as an ecclesiastical atonement for a committed manslaughter or murder on the site of the incident by the perpetrator or their family. Their task was to remind the passer-by that a person had died at this point without the sacraments of the death and to ask the passer-by to say a prayer for the perished person. With the enactment of the "Embarrassing Court Regulations" of 1533, the time of the atonement crosses came to an end, as the secular courts now also had to deal with manslaughter.
