The A 30 at the Schüttorf motorway junction |
The motorway junction Schüttorf (abbreviation: AK Schüttorf ; short form: Kreuz Schüttorf ) is a motorway junction in Lower Saxony near Nordhorn . It connects the federal motorway 30 ( Bad Bentheim - Bad Oeynhausen ; E 30 ) with the federal motorway 31 ( Emden - Bottrop ).
geography
The cross is located in southern Emsland , in the area of the municipalities of Salzbergen , Emsbüren ( Emsland district ) and the town of Schüttorf ( Bentheim district ). Thus, the border between the two districts also runs through the cross. It is located about 30 km northeast of Enschede , about 55 km west of Osnabrück and about 20 km south of Lingen .
The Schüttorf motorway junction has junction number 5 on the A 30 and number 27 on the A 31.
history
On December 19, 2004 it was opened to traffic with the gap on the A 31 between the Lingen and Schüttorf-Ost junctions and since then, together with the A 31, forms the direct connection between the Ruhr area and the North Sea. The construction work began with the demolition of the old bridge of the L 40 over the A 30 at the current location of the cross on December 7, 2002. Before that, the L 40 was relocated to the west. The prerequisites for this were the demolition of another bridge over the A 30 on September 1, 2001 and the construction of six new structures, including the transfer of the new L 40 over the A 31 at the Emsbüren junction, which together with the northern construction section in April 2002 for traffic has been released. The construction of the bridge and the motorway junction could then begin.
Design and state of development
Both motorways have four lanes. The connecting ramps are single-track. On the A 30 the motorway junction forms a double junction with the AS Schüttorf-Nord.
The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf .
Traffic volume
The cross is used by around 57,000 vehicles every day.
