Bärbel Beuermann (born September 16, 1955 in Herne -Holthausen) is a German politician (until April 2014 Die Linke now SPD ). In November 2009 she was elected the top candidate for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 9, 2010 . Beuermann occurred in NRW parliamentary constituency 110, Herne I to.

Life

After graduating from secondary school in 1972, Beuermann attended the vocational school for nutrition and housekeeping in Herne and from 1973 to 1976 the technical school for nutrition and housekeeping in Dortmund, where she trained as an ecotrophologist specializing in "business".

From 1976 to 1986 she worked as a specialist teacher at the vocational school in Wattenscheid , taught vocational school classes, classes for vocational preparation ( young workers ' classes , i.e. young people who have not started training and have not registered for any other form of vocational schooling, but are still required to attend vocational school) . From 1986 to 1993 she taught at a comprehensive school in Herne-Wanne . During this time, she also obtained the technical college entrance qualification as an external student . Subsequently, she trained as a specialist teacher for special needs schools - specializing in KB (physically handicapped people) and GB (mentally handicapped people). Due to her already existing professional experience, a shorter training period was possible.

Since 1994 she has been teaching at the special school in Wanne-Eickel, initially with a special focus on learning, then at the network school with a special focus on learning and emotional and social development . In 2000 she was elected to the staff council here. (A position for which she was no longer running in 2008 - against the background of her candidacy in the state elections in 2010). She is a member of the Education and Science Union .

Political career

Beuermann has been involved in the peace movement since the mid-1980s and was active against the war in Kosovo in 1999. In 1999 she joined the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) and has been a member of the city council of Herne since 2000 (local election on September 12, 1999) . From 2000 to 2003 she was PDS party council spokeswoman. In 2004 she was elected to the state executive committee of the PDS. Here she was responsible for the focus on education. 2006 member of the state executive board and 2007 member of the steering committee for the merger of the WASG and the Left Party / PDS. Since 2007, Beuermann has been a member of the executive state board and deputy state spokeswoman for Die Linke. From 2004 to 2009 she was a member of the Arnsberg Regional Council . Since 2008 she has been a member of the Socialist Left , a group founded on August 19, 2006 in Wuppertal within the party Die Linke , which the constitution protection classifies as extremist .

At the regional assembly of representatives of the Left on November 22, 2009 in Mülheim ad Ruhr, Bärbel Beuermann was elected by 84 percent of the 203 delegates as the top candidate of the Left for the state elections on May 9, 2010. Beuermann joined the NRW state electoral district 110 ( Herne I ) on May 9, 2010 . With Herne, Sodingen and Wanne, the constituency includes three of the four districts of Herne.

After the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 , Die Linke moved into the Düsseldorf state parliament with eleven members. The parliamentary group of the Left elected at its constituent meeting on May 11, 2010 Beuermann and Wolfgang Zimmermann as group chairmen. With the result of the state election in 2012 , she left the state parliament.

For the 2013 federal election she ran as a direct candidate in constituency 122 (Recklinghausen II). At the end of September 2013, she left her council group Die Linke as a city councilor for the city of Herne , but kept her seat.

In April 2014 Bärbel Beuermann resigned from the DIE LINKE party and ran for the integration council of the city of Herne on the list close to the SPD, the Migrantenbündnis Herne (MBH). On April 28, 2014, she joined the SPD in Herne.

Political priorities

Her political focus is on education and social issues. With regard to schools, it represents the “merging” of the previous school forms and the creation of upper school centers . Furthermore, she advocates the introduction of a teaching unit luxury and intoxicant studies at schools in North Rhine-Westphalia as part of drug prevention.
