history

Nothing is known about the opening of the stadium. The main users of the stadium, originally called Brackwede Stadium, are the football and athletics department of SV Brackwede . The footballers played a total of six years in the highest Westphalian amateur league. The highlights were always the derbies against Spvg Steinhagen , for whose games up to 4,000 spectators came to the respective stadiums. Arminia Bielefeld's second team played its home games in the Brackwede stadium until 2008. After the team qualified for the newly created NRW League in 2008 , the team had to move to the inner-city stadium in Rußheide , as the Brackweder stadium did not meet the requirements. Since then, Arminia Bielefeld has been using the stadium for the home games of his male A and B youth. After Arminia Bielefeld 's women's team were about to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga , the Böllhoff Stadium was traded as a possible venue, as the sports field on Schillerstrasse is not suitable for the 2nd Bundesliga. Finally, the Waldstadion Quelle was chosen as the new venue.

VfB 03 Bielefeld used the stadium three times for its home games for the Westphalia Championship. On April 12, 1953 , the team received TSV Hüls and won the game 2-0. The second home game of the round against SuS Niederschelden / Gosenbach was played by VfB on Königsbrügge , the stadium of TuS Eintracht Bielefeld . Two years later, the "Hüpker" qualified again for the Westphalia Championship and played both home games in Brackwede. First, on April 10, 1955, the Bielefeld team beat Erler SV 08 3-0. The second game on May 7, 1955 was won against Sportfreunde Siegen 1-0. In addition, two playoffs for the championship of the Landesliga Westfalen, Season 1 were held in the Brackwede stadium. On 24 March 1954 the defeated VfJ 08 Paderborn to SpVgg Beckum with 2: 1. Two years later , SVA Gütersloh prevailed 1-0 against Union Herford on April 18, 1956 .

The Brackweder Stadium has twice hosted games of the Westphalia selection in the amateur country cup . On February 13, 1956, the Westphalian selection met the Hessian team in a quarter-final replay and lost 2: 4. A year later, the last sixteen match between Westphalia and Berlin was played in Brackwede . On September 23, 1956, the Westphalia won 2-0 after extra time .

After an initial renovation in 1989, in which the athletics track was converted from an ash to a synthetic surface, a comprehensive renovation followed in 2012 and 2013. Among other things, the stadium received a blue track for athletics competitions. This means that only competitions according to the standards of the IAAF world association can be held in the stadium . The renaming was applied for by SV Brackwede and finally approved by the Brackwede district council. With the renaming of the stadium, the association thanked the Böllhoff company , which donated large sums for the renovation.
