history

The administrative area of the Poppelsdorf mayor was until the end of the 18th century part of the Bonn Oberamt in the Electorate of Cologne . From 1798 to 1814 it belonged to France . At the time, Poppelsdorf was the seat of a Mairie , which belonged to the canton Bonn external in the Arrondissement de Bonn of the Rhine-Moselle department . The administrative area of Mairie Poppelsdorf was identical to that of the later Prussian mayor's office.

Based on the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the Rhineland was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, administrative districts and counties were formed in 1816 , while the administrative districts of the French Mairies were generally retained on the left bank of the Rhine. The mayor Poppelsdorf belonged to the circle of Bonn in Cologne Region . In 1822 the district of Bonn and with it the mayor's office in Poppelsdorf became part of the then newly formed Rhine province . 1894–1896, a new town hall was built for the mayor's office at Kirschallee 23 (today a listed building ).

On June 1, 1904, the communities of Dottendorf, Endenich, Kessenich and Poppelsdorf were incorporated into the city of Bonn and the Poppelsdorf mayor was dissolved. The municipalities of Duisdorf, Ippendorf, Lengsdorf and Röttgen were assigned to the newly formed mayor's office in Duisdorf, which was renamed Amt Duisdorf in 1927 . In 1969 the Duisdorf office was dissolved, and the municipalities of Duisdorf, Ippendorf, Lengsdorf and Röttgen, which were also dissolved, became districts in the simultaneously newly formed city of Bonn.
