Bad and Boujee is a song by the US rap trio Migos from 2016, which it recorded with the musician Lil Uzi Vert . The first single of their second studio album Culture was written by the two band members Quavo and Offset , the guest rapper Lil Uzi Vert and the producers of the song, G Koop and Metro Boomin .
Music and lyrics
Bad and Boujee can be attributed to the trap genre . The beat is catchy from a simple keyboard melody , the subtle 808 - bass drums , hi-hats and concise Claps is underlined. The intro , chorus and the first verses offset rapped , Quavo accepts the second and Lil Uzi Vert the third verse. Takeoff cannot be heard on the song. The track ends with a fadeout as the instrumental repeats. What is noticeable about Bad and Boujee is the frequent use of Adlibs , which add to some lines of the text or sometimes even completely replace them.
In terms of content, Bad and Boujee is about the rise of the performers. They claim to have come from “nothing” to “something” and celebrate their dissolute lifestyle today , in which drugs and women play a major role. While they say they never had a lot of money in the past, today they can afford luxurious status symbols. This contrast is also made clear in the title, which refers to a lover of offsets within the text. “Bad”, in German actually “bad” or “bad”, is used here as slang and means something like “cool”, while “boujee” is an intentional misspelling of “ bourgeois ”. The music video for Bad and Boujee , created under the direction of Daps , also takes up the content-related motif of the rich-poor contrast. Lil Uzi Vert leads a gang whose members follow him in their vehicles. He is wearing a fan shirt by rock singer Marilyn Manson , gold chains and brightly colored braids .

Bad and Boujee has received extremely positive reviews and has been featured in several leaderboards since its release. The outstanding chorus was given particular praise, and Lil Uzi Vert's lecture was also highlighted repeatedly. However, the lack of takeoff on the song was perceived differently. Stereogum saw it as an advantage, as the rapper was the weakest member of the group, while Complex saw it as the only downer to the otherwise great song. Since it appeared in 2016, but only became a major American chart success in 2017, the title appeared in rankings in both years. The Rolling Stone magazine named him the sixth-best song of 2017, and for zweiundsiebzigstbesten song of the 21st century . Complex, Billboard and The Fader also endorsed the verdict and listed it among the highlights of the two years.
Actor , filmmaker and rapper Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino thanked Migos for making Bad and Boujee in his speech at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards , calling it the best song of all time.

Especially in the United States was Bad and Boujee a great commercial success. It was able to reach the top of the charts there and was the sixth best-selling song of 2017. In Canada it was also able to get a position in the top ten of the charts with number 5; in the rest of the world it only performed moderately in the charts. In Germany the title reached number 65 and in Switzerland number 31, in Austria it could not prove itself in the charts.
