Badminton Asian Championship 1976
The 1976 Asian Badminton Championship was held from October 30th to November 7th in Hyderabad , India . Officially, it was the fourth title fights of the Asian Badminton Confederation . The team competition was held from October 30th to November 2nd, followed by the individual competition, which lasted until November 7th. Team winner was Indonesia, which defeated China 3-2 in the final. The game for third place between Japan and Malaysia also ended 3-2. The championships are not to be confused with the First Asian Invitational Badminton Championships , which took place in Bangkok in March of the same year . There Iie Sumirat won the men's individual competition in the final against Hou Jiachang with 12:15, 15: 8 and 18:15. He had previously knocked out Tang Xianhu in the semifinals with 15: 9, 12:15 and 15: 6.
