The 1978/79 Bundesliga badminton season consisted of 14 game days in the “everyone against everyone” mode with a return game. 1. BV Mülheim became the champion . Descent had the Ohligser TV , the VfL Wolfsburg went into the relegation, which took place on 28 and 29 April 1979th Wolfsburg secured relegation against OSC 04 Rheinhausen , TG Langendiebach and VfB Lübeck . Rheinhausen later moved up as the second climber for the PSV Grün-Weiß Wiesbaden team that had not started .
