Bahçeköy ( Turkish for garden village ) is a village in the district of Tavas in the Turkish province of Denizli . Bahçeköy is located about 75 km south of the provincial capital Denizli and 30 km south of Tavas. According to the last census, Bahçeköy had 336 inhabitants (as of December 2010).

history

Between 1960 and 1980, many residents emigrated to Western Europe as guest workers . A little more than 1500 people from Bahçeköy currently live abroad, especially in Germany , Canada , Austria and Switzerland , most of whom visit their home village during the summer holidays.

Economy and Infrastructure

The majority of the population is employed in agriculture . The tobacco is by far the largest source of income of the population. In addition to wheat , barley , thyme , onions and melons grown.
