The station Ibbenbüren-Laggenbeck (until 12 December 2004, only Laggenbeck ) is a railway station in Ibbenbürener district Laggenbeck at the Löhne-Rheine railway . In terms of railway law, it has been a stopping point since the tracks for freight traffic were dismantled in the 1990s . Before that, towards the end of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century, it was an important transshipment point in the Ibbenbüren coalfield . The former station building is a listed building.

history

Although the railway line between Löhne and Rheine was opened in 1855, there was initially no train station in Laggenbeck. It was not until 1881 that a freight station was set up in order to be able to transport the ores extracted from the Perm tunnel . For this purpose, the ores were hauled from the mine to Laggenbeck on a horse-drawn train. The cut in the landscape was filled in in 1927 and led along today's Perm road .

View of the (former) track systems: the tracks for goods handling were to the right of the two main tracks . The coal bunker was at the level of the warehouse, the reception building can still be seen in the background.

The passenger station opened in 1884. With the reactivation of the Morgenstern shaft in the 1920s, the track system was expanded further and cargo handling reached its peak. With the widening of the railway facilities, it was also possible to distribute the platforms on both sides of the route and to abandon the central platform. The coal mined in the Morgenstern shaft at the eastern end of the Schafberg has been transported by a 3.5 km long cable car to the train station in Laggenbeck since 1926 and stored there in a bunker station before it was transported away by train. The Morgensternschacht was closed again as early as 1928, so that the importance of the Laggenbeck train station also declined. The concrete foundation of the bunker is still there today, but it is heavily overgrown.

In the 1990s, the track systems were completely dismantled. The ticket office was also closed and replaced by ticket machines. While the former goods shed is rented out as a warehouse, the listed entrance building is falling into disrepair, as there is no subsequent use.
