The Bad Oeynhausen Train Station is located in the center of the spa town of Bad Oeynhausen [ ba: T'o: nhaʊzən ] in the Minden-Lübbecke . It lies on the Hamm – Minden railway line and connects to the Osnabrück – Rheine line via the Löhne train station . In the early 2000s, the station was operationally converted into a stop .
The Bad Oeynhausen Süd train station is within walking distance (around 800 meters) on the Löhne – Hameln – Elze connection known as the “Weserbahn” , which is why Bad Oeynhausen also uses the term “Hauptbahnhof” or “Nordbahnhof” unofficially for the station discussed here.
history
The Hamm (Westf) –Minden railway was opened on October 15, 1847 by the Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft as the last part of its main line and continuation of the connection (Cologne-) Deutz – Düsseldorf – Duisburg – Dortmund – Hamm that had already been built in previous years . From 1856 the " Hannoversche Westbahn " used the route towards Osnabrück.
The station was built from 1851 to 1854, as a small through station on the Cologne-Mindener Railway, it was subject to the railway company's type construction program: transverse buildings with an entrance hall in the middle, office, baggage and check-in counters as well as waiting and ancillary rooms. The one, but mainly two-storey buildings were often divided into three parts. The external design was often characterized by a classical language of forms.
As part of the expansion and renovation of the Cologne-Mindener railways, the station was adapted in 1914 to the now four-track line, which ran on a dam.
ICE trains also served the station until 2006 . However, since the platform height did not meet the requirements of ICE traffic and the city did not want to bear the costs of a renovation, the stops were abandoned.
Station facilities
A passenger and freight line with two tracks each run next to each other on the four-track planum. Platform tracks 1 and 2 are mainly used for passenger traffic, while track 3 serves as a sideline in the event of construction work and operational disruptions. Since the following stop at Porta Westfalica has only two platform tracks, the trains in this direction have to switch back to the right passenger track when using track 3 (on the freight line).
At the end of the platform on platform 1 there is parking for a few vehicles and therefore step-free access to this platform. The second platform can be reached via stairs and an elevator. At the end of the platform at the level of the bus station there is an underpass with a former entrance. However, this ramp access has been closed for decades.
The city of Bad Oeynhausen bought the building in 2013. Since then, a project group within the city administration has been developing a renovation and utilization concept for the station building.
service
In long-distance passenger train station is since 10 December 2018 10 Intercity operated trains on the day. The stops on IC line 55 (Cologne – Hanover – Dresden) were canceled when the timetable changed in December 2016; The reason was that Bad Oeynhausen was the least used long-distance stop on this line and the IC2 has a top speed of only 160 km / h.
