Railway stations in Bavaria |
Pfronten-Ried (abbreviation according to the MPFD operating point directory , station number (IBNR) (80) 04806) is one of the two stations in Pfronten . It is located on the Ausserfernbahn and was its terminus until 1905 . The station building and the other station buildings have been added to the list of architectural monuments . Most of the station area is municipal property.
history
After attempts in the 1880s to build a "long-distance railway" from Kempten over the Fernpass to Innsbruck failed, the Kempten – Pfronten-Ried section was opened in 1895. Ten years later the line was then extended to Reutte in Tyrol , making Pfronten-Ried a through station. Until the 1970s, there were mainly so-called holiday trains from Kempten to Pfronten, which also ran with the well-known TEE multiple units .
At the end of 2011, Deutsche Bahn closed the ticket office in Pfronten-Ried. On May 9, 2018, it put a new video travel center into operation, which is operated from Kempten.
architecture
The building of the Pfronten-Ried station is a uniformly designed assembly of quarry stone masonry. The two-storey station building has a clinker brick structure and a gable roof , as does the northern warehouse building and the engine shed. In the southern area there is also a kiosk building with a hipped roof . The station building and the locomotive shed were later expanded.
