The local railway Taus – Tachau (Czech. Místní dráha Domažlice – Tachov ) was a private local railway - stock corporation in today's Czech Republic . The line branches off the Plzeň – Furth railway line at Domažlice ( Taus ) in the forest and leads to Tachov ( Tachau ) in western Bohemia . The seat of the company was in Vienna .

history

On March 28, 1908, the “Mayor of the royal town of Taus, Johann Ludvik, in association with Max Dussek, district chairman in Taus, Dr. Anton Steidl, member of the state parliament in Prague, Andreas Eckl, district chairman in Eisendorf and Heinrich Swoboda, mayor of the city of Tachau, granted the requested concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Taus to Tachau station ” . The company's share capital totaled 2,300,000 crowns .

The route was opened on August 1, 1910. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) on behalf of the Taus – Tachau local railway . After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) took the place of the kkStB .

On January 1, 1925, the Taus – Tachau local railway was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.

In the 2018 timetable, the České dráhy operate the route every two hours on weekdays with passenger trains, some of which are connected via Tachov to Planá u Mariánských Lázní . In the rush hour, individual repeater trains run on sections. Series 810 and 814 diesel railcars are used.

Locomotives

The kkStB acquired five 178 series locomotives on account of the Taus – Tachau local railway . The locomotives had the road numbers 178.106–178.109 and 178.113.
