The Działdowo – Olsztyn (Soldau – Allenstein) railway is an electrified railway line in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It represents part of the connection from Warsaw to Olsztyn.

The route begins in the remote transport station Działdowo (Soldau) on the railway Warszawa-Gdansk , which is also the beginning of the railway Działdowo-Chojnice was crossed those and runs north-east to the remote traffic station Nidzica (Neidenburg; km 24,384), the beginning of railway Nidzica-Wielbark was and then north across the train station Olsztynek (Hohenstein (East Prussia); km 52.975) and the three routes, namely the Thorn to the Russian border and at Elbing , situated Highway breakpoint Olsztyn Zachodni (Olsztyn suburb / Allenstein West; km 81.100) to the Olsztyn Główny railway station (Olsztyn [City] / Olsztyn Central Station; km 83.283), which is located on the routes just mentioned and is the start of the Olsztyn – Ełk railway line .

State of development

The line is single-track and electrified with three kilovolts DC .

The maximum speed for passenger trains is almost continuously 100 kilometers per hour up to the 31.200 kilometer point, ninety kilometers per hour up to 43.202 kilometers, and then again for the most part a hundred kilometers per hour. For freight trains it is up to 23.893 kilometers per hour, then seventy kilometers per hour.

history

The line between Allenstein and Hohenstein was opened by the Prussian State Railways on November 15, 1887 , and continued to Soldau on October 1, 1888. After the First World War , the Treaty of Versailles ran from 1920 between Schönwiese and the Sakrau - Scharnau station built in 1924 the new Polish-German border. Continuous passenger traffic was no longer operated until the German Reich occupied Poland in 1939 and the previously Polish section of the line was incorporated into the Deutsche Reichsbahn as part of the Polish State Railways . After the end of the Second World War in 1945, the entire line came to the Polish State Railways, which had it electrified by the end of November 1986.
