Stawiguda ( German Stabigotten ) is a village and seat of the rural community of the same name in Powiat Olsztyński , Poland .
Geographical location
The municipality borders on Olsztyn in the north and Olsztynek in the south and southwest . Two places called Ameryka / Amerika and Ruś / Reußen are located on the opposite borders , so that the locals like to refer to their homeland with a wink as the largest community in Poland. The place Stawiguda has about 1,200 inhabitants, the others live in another 17 villages, each of which has around 200 inhabitants.
Almost all places are active in tourism, so that tourism has become a significant economic factor for Stawiguda. Accordingly, the expansion of tourism is the goal on which the municipality wants to build its future.
history
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which the Stabigotten belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Stabigotten, 380 people voted to remain with East Prussia, while Poland had 100 votes.
