The Lužianky – Leopoldov line is a branch line in Slovakia . It leads through western Slovakia through the Danube hill country and connects the river valleys of the Waag and Nitra .

history

The line from Lužianky to Leopoldov was built by the Magyar Északnyugati helyi érdekű vasút (Hungarian Northwestern Local Railway). The section between Lužianky (out of Nitra ) and Hlohovec first went into operation on December 18, 1897. Three months later, on March 31, 1898, the short section to Leopoldov was opened - the railway line was finished. This company also built today's Trnava – Kúty line and the then Hungarian part of the Břeclav – Kúty line ; However, the operation fell to the Hungarian State Railways .

Today there are a few local trains and a few express trains that go from Bratislava to Nitra or Prievidza .
