history

Holy Trinity Church

The current municipality of Rišňovce was created in 1925 by the merger of two places: Dolné Rišňovce (German Unter-Ritschen , Hungarian Alsórécsény ) and Horné Rišňovce (German Ober-Ritschen , Hungarian Felsőrécsény ).

Dolné Rišňovce was first mentioned in writing in 1272 as Rechen , Horné Rišňovce in 1388 as Kisreschen . In the 16th century the Országh , Lossonczy and Torday families owned the lower village, while in the upper village it was owned by the Torday , Motešický and Sándor families . Both places were affected by the attacking Turks in 1599 and 1600 respectively.

Both places in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia.
