Cabaj-Čápor is a large municipality in Nitriansky kraj in western Slovakia . It is located in the Danube Hills ( Podunajská pahorkatina ) on the Cabajský creek, 9 km southwest of Nitra . In addition to the two official districts, Cabaj and Čápor, there are also other unofficial districts Fízeš , Hrúšťov , Nový Cabaj , Riegler and Pereš in the area .
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1156 as Copur (Čabaj), and in 1246 as Choboy (Čápor). The two places were in the Kingdom of Hungary in Neutra County until 1918 and had the Hungarian names Cabaj and Csápor here . They merged in 1925, but separated again in 1939. Between 1948 and 1974, Čápor had the slightly changed name of Čapor ; after an administrative reform in 1974, the two previously independent municipalities belong together again.
